Dr. Amy Stewart

Dr. Amy Stewart's journey is a testament to dedication, compassion, and community

empowerment. Graduating with a Bachelor of Arts from Salisbury University in 2004 with a focus

on English education, Dr. Stewart's academic journey laid the groundwork for her impactful

career. She furthered her education at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, earning a

master's degree in special education, and later obtaining a Doctorate of Education from Walden

University in 2018.

In 2018, Dr. Stewart embarked on a transformative endeavor by establishing the Nightwatch

Childcare Center, Maryland's sole therapeutic overnight childcare facility and the only one of its

kind on the eastern shore. Her visionary leadership and commitment to children's well-being

earned her recognition as a finalist for the Palmer Gillis Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2020,

a title she claimed the following year.

Together with her husband Ben and their dedicated team, Dr. Stewart celebrated the Nightwatch

Childcare Center's fifth anniversary in 2023, marking half a decade of providing invaluable

support to families in need. Their unwavering efforts were rewarded with a $246,000 grant from

the state of Maryland, a testament to the center's profound impact on the community.

Beyond her role as a business owner, Dr. Stewart is deeply engaged in civic life, serving as a

commissioner for the Salisbury City Zoo and as a member of the Youth Development Advisory

Committee for the city. She mentors her childcare students in the Wicomico County Public

Schools, fostering relationships between youth and local businesses.

Dr. Stewart's commitment to youth empowerment extends beyond professional endeavors.

Alongside her husband, she champions initiatives to support young people, including her

founding of Operation Experience, Inc., local nonprofit serving the youth of Delmarva, where

she serves as president.

With a shared passion and dedication to their community, Dr. Stewart and her husband

epitomize the spirit of giving back. Through their outreach efforts and involvement in various

community initiatives, they continue to inspire and uplift the young people of their area, leaving

an indelible mark on generations to come.
